German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) and RISE Pro

DAAD RISE
is a summer internship program for undergraduate students from the United States, Canada, and the UK in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. RISE interns work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for 2-3 months during the summer, and are matched with doctoral students whom they assist and who serve as their mentors. Participants receive stipends for living expenses and housing assistance. No German language requirement. Applications accepted between December 6 to January 15.

DAAD RISE Pro offers 2-6 month research internships in science and engineering at German companies. RISE Pro scholars receive stipends from the host company and DAAD to help cover living expenses, health care, and airfare. Recent graduates, Master and PhD students from North American universities in the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, geology and physics (or a closely related field) are invited to apply. Undergraduates who are RISE alumni or former DAAD scholarship holders are also eligible. German language requirements depend on the nature of the internship.
